Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, completely free. Searching, browsing, locating facilities near you, and submitting new ones all cost nothing. Data comes from OpenStreetMap, a free open-source world map.
Click "Near Me" and allow location access in your browser. HospitalNexus uses your GPS coordinates to query OpenStreetMap for all medical facilities within approximately 5 km of you. No location data is stored or transmitted to any server.
Each facility card has a comment section where users can add missing information (new phone numbers, specialty departments, parking info), confirm correct info with a ✓ vote, or flag errors with a ✗ vote. Comments show date and time so you always know how fresh the information is.
Medical information must be accurate. Admin review prevents spam, duplicate entries, and incorrect listings that could mislead patients seeking real healthcare. Submissions are typically reviewed within 24–48 hours.
Results depend on what's been mapped in OpenStreetMap for that area. Major cities like London, Riyadh, or Tokyo have rich data. Some cities (e.g. Washington DC) may require searching by suburb names (Arlington, Bethesda) or by just typing the hospital name directly. You can also add missing facilities using the "Add Facility" button.
Open the Admin panel, enter the current password, then go to the "Settings" tab inside Admin. You can set a new password there — it is saved securely in your browser's localStorage. If you are self-hosting this file, you can also change the default in the JavaScript where ADMIN_PWD_KEY is stored.
HospitalNexus works globally across 190+ countries. Any location with OpenStreetMap coverage is supported. Coverage quality varies by region — major cities and developed countries typically have the most detailed data.
Click the "Near Me" button on the HospitalNexus search bar and allow location access. The directory instantly shows all hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical centres within 5 km of your current GPS position, sorted by distance from nearest to furthest. No account or sign-up required.
Yes. HospitalNexus is designed for international travellers, expats, and digital nomads. Search any city in 190+ countries to see local hospitals, private clinics, polyclinics, dispensaries and pharmacies — complete with addresses, phone numbers, opening hours and directions via Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps.
HospitalNexus lists six primary facility types: Hospitals (general and specialist), Clinics (walk-in and GP), Polyclinics (multi-specialty outpatient centres), Dispensaries (community health posts), Pharmacies, and Medical Centres. Use the filter chips after searching to narrow results to a specific type.
After searching your city or tapping "Near Me", use the availability filter and select "Emergency Only" or "24/7". This filters results to show only facilities with emergency services or round-the-clock hours. Emergency facilities are also highlighted with a 🚨 badge on their card.
Yes. Click the "🌐 Translate" button in the navigation bar to translate the entire page into Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese, Russian, Korean or Turkish via Google Translate — no separate app needed.
All facility data is sourced in real-time from OpenStreetMap (OSM) via the Overpass API — the world's largest open-source geographic database, maintained by millions of contributors globally. Community members can also submit missing facilities directly through HospitalNexus, which are added after admin review.
